Co-Section Editor-in-Chief
The Co-Section Editor-in-Chief is a subject matter expert in a specific section of a journal and shares responsibility for maintaining the scientific quality of that section alongside the Section Editor-in-Chief. The role involves overseeing the growth and development of the journal's section, including its Special Issues and Collections, with an initial term of two years. Key responsibilities include:
- Advising Section Editor-in-Chiefs on the strategic development of the section and raising alerts for any issues encountered.
- Providing guidance on the aims and scope of the section.
- Overseeing the editorial process for manuscripts assigned to them, with a focus on scope relevance, and making pre-check editorial decisions.
- Supervising Special Issues by assessing the feasibility of new titles, evaluating the qualifications of Guest Editors, and granting final approval before launch.
- Ensuring that Special Issues align with the journal’s scope and are of interest to the scientific community.
- Proposing candidates for the Editorial Board to Section Editor-in-Chiefs for approval.
- Participating in regular meetings with Section Editor-in-Chiefs, providing feedback and support.
- Serving as an ambassador for the journal, the CLS, and open access publishing.
