Copyrights
For all articles published in CrossLink Studies (CLS) journals, the authors retain their copyright. Articles are made available under an open access Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY-SA 4.0). This ensures that readers can download and read the paper without cost. The article may also be reused and quoted, provided that the original published version is properly cited. These terms promote extensive utilization and exposure of the work while ensuring the authors receive appropriate recognition.
Under specific circumstances, an article may be subject to an alternative licensing agreement. If a particular condition, such as one tied to funding, prevents the use of this license, authors must inform the journal's editorial office during submission. Such exceptions are approved at the discretion of the publisher.
Reproducing Published Material from Other Sources
Authors must secure permission to reuse any published material, including figures, schemes, tables, or text excerpts, that is not in the public domain or where the copyright is not held by the authors. Permission requests should be directed to the copyright holder, typically the publisher, which can be identified by referring to the imprint of the original publication.
Permission is required for:
- Material from the authors' prior works published elsewhere where copyright was not retained.
- Significant extracts from any source or series of sources.
- Tables, graphs, charts, schemes, and artworks that are either unmodified or slightly altered.
- Photographs where the copyright is held by another party.
Permission is not required for:
- Recreating a table using previously published data, provided the source is clearly cited using phrases such as "Data from..." or "Adapted from...".
- Short quotations that fall under fair use.
- Graphs, charts, schemes, and artworks that have been completely redrawn and extensively modified by the authors.
Obtaining Permission
To prevent delays in publication, authors should initiate the process of securing permissions at the earliest stage of manuscript preparation. When in doubt, it is recommended to apply for permission. CLS cannot publish materials from external sources without proper authorization.
The copyright holder may specify the acknowledgment format. If no specific instructions are provided, use the following style at the end of the caption for the relevant material: "Reproduced with permission from [author], [book or journal title], published by [publisher], [year]."
