Open Peer Review
Some journals under 'CrossLink Studies' offer the possibility of an open peer review upon request. This approach allows for the publication of both the reviewers' feedback and the authors' replies alongside the main article, enhancing transparency and building trust among readers by allowing them to observe and verify the peer review dynamics. This openness in the review process is also intended to motivate reviewers to provide thoughtful and detailed feedback, knowing that their assessments will be publicly disclosed if the manuscript is approved.
Furthermore, to bolster transparent communication and the integrity of the review process, we suggest that reviewers attach their names to their evaluations, achieving what is known as open identity. This act of signing off on their reports not only credits reviewers for their work in the peer evaluation but also demonstrates their dedication to the principles of open science. While the standard practice keeps reviewers anonymous, opting for open identity is voluntary. Should a manuscript not proceed to publication, none of the review process details will be disclosed.
